Prior to installing the R2i5 Intraoral Scanner, please verify that all components listed in the table above are present and complete. If any parts are missing or do not match the description, do not proceed with the installation. Instead, please contact MegaGen for support.
Regarding the scanner, it reconstructs 3D digital impressions from a series of 2D images it captures. Its primary components include optical and imaging systems. The scanner handpiece features protective glass at its tip.
1 – Primary Control Button:
Click: Start/Stop scanning.
Long Press: Enter the Remote Control Interface.
2 – Motion-Sensing Button:
Click: Automatically switch to the next scanning object.
Long Press: Enter Motion Control Mode to rotate the model. Release the button to exit Motion Control Mode.
3 – Secondary Control Button:
Click: Start/Stop scanning.
Long Press: Enter the Remote Control Interface.
Scanner Tip: The scanner tip is made of medical-grade plastic and an optical prism, and it is used for digital data collection. The scanner tip can be sterilized according to the prescribed method.
Base: The scanner handpiece enters standby mode when it is placed on the base in scanning mode.
Protective Tip: Protect the head of the scanner handpiece, and prevent dust entry and accidental damage to the head components. Beware to remove the protective cover and replace it with the scanner tip while the device is in operation. When the scanner tip needs to be removed (e.g., for sterilization) or when the device is not in use, please replace it with the protective cover. (The protective cover can only be wiped with alcohol, and cannot undergo high-temperature sterilization.)
Data Cable (Type-C Interface): Used to transfer the output signal from the Intraoral Scanner to the PC. Please make sure to use the accompanying data cable.
Hardware Installation
◆ Installing Intraoral Scanner
1. Connect the data cable (3) to the Scanner handpiece (1). Tighten the cable locking case (2), and insert the scanner tip (5).
Note that the data cable (3) is first inserted into the tail interface of the scanner handpiece (1), then the cable locking case (2) is tightened. Pay attention to the orientation when tightening.
2. Connect the other side of the data cable (3) to the PC USB port. When the entire system is powered on, the scanner button indicator light turns on.
3. Pick up the Intraoral Scanner (1), press button (4), when the button indicator light flashes green, it means scanning is available.
◆ Button indicator light:
- Blue light: Standby
- Green light: Self-Test / Scanning
4. Put the intraoral scanner (1) onto the base (6) after scanning ends. The intraoral scanner enters standby mode and stops scanning.
5. Disconnect the connection of the PC USB port and scanner handpiece (1), power off the entire device.
◆ Things you should do before use
Remove the intraoral scanner from the original package, check if the received device matches your reservation, and if all the accessories are intact and undamaged.
Before using the intraoral scanner, you need to install the drive program and intraoral scanner.
◆ Installation Precautions
- Please handle with care when installing.
- Place the base on a flat and stable surface to prevent falling.
- Do not drop the scanner handpiece and base onto the ground to avoid irreparable damage.
- To prevent the occurrence of disruptive images, keep the system away from strong magnetic fields and avoid sources of static emissions.
- While the electromagnetic interference of this product is low, it does not guarantee that its operation won't affect the surrounding equipment. If interference occurs, please keep the product away from the interfering device.
